Today marks ten weeks of Ruby. I took her to the pediatrician today for another weight check-in. She remains slow to gain, but the doc isn’t too worried given how I was as a baby, and also how she is gaining in general. She has grown one inch in two weeks and her head growth is perfect. We did start a wee bit of formula supplementation yesterday. She successfully drank 2 oz! Even though I’m disappointed, I’m still happy she drank it as she obviously needs more to eat at times. I’m still pumping to have extra breastmilk but there are occasional days I simply can’t find the time. At least we can begin to strike a balance between breastfeeding, pumping and some formula when needed. She has seemed happier and I’m trying my darndest to not let her get overtired. She has had some great stretches of sleep at night of 6 or 7 hours during some nights the past couple weeks. Honestly she even seems a bit less gassy. Dare I say? I have started given her some powder infant probiotic in a bottle per day, but no idea if it really makes a difference.
She loves to sleep on her belly (still not yet letting her do this full time but occasionally in the mornings and her head strength seems completely okay for this), loves silly faces and loves to be snuggled up warm and close. Ruby met Grandpa Joe last week when he visited and will soon have a visit from Aunt Carrie and her cousin Dylanne. Almost everyone in the immediate family has met her! We are slowly starting to work towards a routine for bath and bedtime to work with Theo’s dinner, bath and bedtime as we get used to being on our own now that Daddy is officially back to work full-time.
I feel a bit like I’m coming out of the cobwebs. Although having two kids is no joke.
I love them.
