Prospect Park Zoo & Washington Ave Rocks!

Last weekend I took Theo to the Prospect Park Zoo. It’s just a little guy, as far as zoo’s go, but it’s nice to have one so close by. It’s right where the Carousel is so after his exciting ride with the horsey’s we went to the Zoo. They have a barn section, some baboon’s (we missed seeing the babies!) and other crazy monkeys, fish, prairie dogs, and sea lions. Everyday they do a feeding of the sea lions so Theo got to see some action. He was really interested in the llamas, sheep, and goats.

There was also a block party on our street with vendors, a fashion show, and an awesome steel drum band. I think I’ll post a video of the music, too, because they were great.

Our little enthusiast

As you can tell by the video, Theo was extraordinarily enthusiastic about our trip to the Carousel today. Really, though, I think he was too busy taking it all in. He seemed really interested in where the loud music was coming from and checking out all the horsey’s and lights. This video makes me giggle. So cute.

Thank you, again!

To everyone who gave us Target gift cards for Theo last year… thank you, thank you, thank you! Believe it or not, we just used our last one. Those have truly been such a help for us. From diapers to socks to sunscreen, we have been able to last just shy of a year on these wonderful gifts. So, again, thank you!! Theo is so lucky to have a network of support from so many friends and family. I can’t believe his one year birthday is just around the corner. 🙂

Horsey

Mersha took Theo to the Prospect Park Carousel today! I’m, of course, super jealous because it was his first time on a carousel and I wasn’t there. But, she did send a photo and it’s so sweet!!

Hope

If you want to bawl your eyes out, go to this blog and watch the video. If you don’t want to, I don’t blame you. It’s an incredibly sad story. But it’s also filled with love, hope, inspiration, and the true meaning of friends, family, and community. Lately I’ve been thinking of them when I’m feeling hopeless and frustrated with my job search, with our struggle to find the right child care fit for us and Theo, and when I am irritated by the many trivial things that irritate me on a daily basis. I want to remind myself that there are much greater struggles out there. That we will overcome the hurdles that life throws at us. That we are able. I have a wonderful little family, a healthy family. And we have so many immediate family and friends who love us and Theo so much. I have a wonderful partner who is working hard to make things better for us. And most importantly, an amazing little boy who lights up our lives every second of every day.

Theo and Sarah

A sweet photo of Theo and our friend Sarah. We went to the Fort Greene Park Jazz Festival on Sunday.
