Thanksgiving

Well, I have no actual photos from Theo’s first Thanksgiving. Momma forgot her camera. We had a great meal at Cori and Scott’s, though. Good food and family. Theo’s little cousins, Sam and Will, love seeing Theo. Especially William (he’s older). He is so good with him. He said, “I feel like I need to look out for him.” It was really sweet. Somebody took pictures of them. I should try to get those to post.

We went to NJ on Friday and spent the weekend there at Jay’s stepsister, Allyson’s. Papa Hankie was there and other family. It was like a mini-vacation for us. First weekend away with Theo. It was nice to have help with him with so many people wanting to hold him and spend time with him. It was great to see more family and relax in a nice, big house. Hank had all nine of his grandkids under one roof and Theo got to meet his little cousin, Riley.

Here are a few photos.

Falling…

Fall in Brooklyn has been gorgeous. The nice weather has been hanging on. I think it’s that we are actually experiencing a fall instead of speeding right from summer into winter. I have still been able to take many walks with Theo. He is alert on our walks much more now and he looks all around at the trees and buildings. He used to just sleep the entire time. He still knocks out usually once he gets into the Moby Wrap but he wakes up part way through and gets to enjoy a bit of the environment. Today I am taking him to Mommy & Me yoga for the first time! I’m excited. We’ll see how he does. I’m meeting my friend Jennifer and her baby, Sam. I enjoy these days off even more now since I am back at work part-time. Have to take full advantage of my Theo time.

So many people have made Theo homemade knit wear. He has two great hats (well, three including the one I made him), some great booties from Yia Yia and our birthing assistant, Kate, as well as pants and sweater that Yia Yia made that he doesn’t fit yet. Can’t wait to see him in those pants! Anyhow, my friend Lalena just made him an adorable hat and gave it to us other night. I’m glad it’s fall and he can showcase his sweet style 😉

Thanks Ama and Bill!

Theo is officially a Browns fan (poor guy!). He received his first Cleveland Browns gear from my Mom and Bill. It’s a cozy sleeper and it’s still a bit big on him but of course Jay wants to put him in it often. I finally let it happen this past Sunday for the Browns v. Jets game. Well, most of us know how that turned out. Needless to say, Theo will have many more Sundays to rock his Browns gear and hopefully cheer them on to victory. And maybe even a Superbowl? Perhaps when he’s twenty. Just kidding… go Browns!

2 months

Theo is 9 weeks. We went to the doctor for his 2 month check-up yesterday. He has officially switched to Tribeca Pediatrics and I love them. His doctor is Andrea Berne. She has been practicing for 29 years and I am super happy overall with her and the practice. It was a great switch and I’m so thankful that everything worked out with his insurance and that we could go to this place. He’s a lucky fellow.

He has really shot up in weight and height! At 12lbs 3oz he is now in the 64th percentile for weight and at 24in he is now in the 84th percentile for height! He did so well at the appointment. He just loves to look around. They have funky wallpaper so that was enough to entertain him while he was on the table being checked out. They gave him a few immunizations and he was great. We skipped on the Hep B vaccine for now and gave him polio, HIB, and DTap (all in one shot). He cried a bit – and did NOT like the taste of the oral rotavirus vaccine. Once I picked him up, he settled down.

He is smiling a ton these days and it’s so great. He coos away and and really seems like a happy guy. We love him.

Yia Yia paid us another visit

It was great having Jay’s mom here with us again. She was passing through town in between two big knitting shows in CT and MA. They took Theo into the city for a big day of shopping the day that I went back to work. Apparently he did an amazing job! Jay even got to change his diaper on a park bench in Tompkins Square Park. Don’t worry… he didn’t put him directly on the park bench 😉 Anyhow, I got to shop around with them the next day in Brooklyn. Theo is quite the trooper. He came with us for a ladies lunch out and this time I changed him in a restaurant booth. I’m getting better at this parenting thing.

Liz also got to watch Theo on my second day back at work. We had to do some creative baby swapping that day. Jay had a two-day job and I had to work so we were faced (already!) with our first child care challenge since I just started back to work part-time. Jay doesn’t have a set schedule so we are trying to figure out our options for flexible child care. Luckily, Yia Yia was here and she watched Theo in the morning, then brought him into the city to Jay’s work, and then Jay brought him to where I was and we swapped him out on the corner of 34th and 7th. Crazy times! Then Jay had him all day on Friday.

I’m back to work 3 days/week for the month of November. I miss him. We are meeting somebody on Sunday interested in watching him when we need help. And we have another person who is interested, as well. Hopefully, we can either line up a day or two or just have a few names of people we can call on short notice since our schedules are not set right now.

A few pictures with Yia Yia… (she bought him that adorable newsboy hat below!)
