Jay and I went away this past weekend to a friend’s house in Eldred, NY. It was about a 2.5 hour train ride there and we got a ride back with some friends. My Dad was planning a trip here around the same time so he volunteered to stay here with Theo in order for us to get away for a night. We have had a couple of nights away from Theo here and there, but this was actually the longest trip away. It was more than just an overnight. We left at 10am on Saturday morning and didn’t return until about 6pm on Sunday. And, I’m happy to report, that everything went great! I’m certain Theo enjoyed his time with Papa, and I know that my Dad enjoyed his one-on-one time with Theo. Theo didn’t seem to miss us one bit, in fact. Although, his happy face and giggles when we walked in on Sunday were so special. Papa took him to the farmer’s market, to play outside the museum where his favorite “puddle” is, they shared bagels, visited the playground and carrousel, and enjoyed time home in our air conditioning! It, of course, had to be a heat wave over the weekend but they seemed to manage quite alright. I’m happy that we have family to come and relieve us from time to time. It’s definitely tough not having family around so when they can take the time to help us, and we can feel comfortable with leaving Theo, it’s a win-win for everyone. Thanks, Papa! Here are some photos from our getaway and also some that Papa took back on the homefront.
