It probably would have be much cooler to take a train into the city to ice skate outdoors in Central Park, or Bryant Park, but we opted to stay on this side of the river. Honestly I&#8217;m holding out for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prospectpark.org\/ice_skating\">brand new ice skating rink in Prospect Park<\/a> to open later this year. It will be complete with a roller rink in the warmer months and I have heard also sprinkler fun for the kiddos during the summer. And we can walk there! Anyways, I digress&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>So we went ice skating! Aviator is one of the indoor rinks where Jay plays hockey. And, seriously, good thing he does because this Mama certainly can&#8217;t skate very well. I tried to be the photographer, getting some nice shots of Daddy and Theo, but even that was tough. Theo had a really nice time. He was not scared at all and, of course, really wanted to try full force. The usual repetition, &#8220;self! self!&#8221;, was uttered frequently peppered in with preschooler frustration given the fact that it&#8217;s just too dangerous for him to really try on his own. He walked amazingly in the skates and really did take a couple strides on his own with Daddy nearby to catch him. He kept saying, &#8220;Theo fall down!&#8221; and I realized that he actually <em>wanted<\/em> to fall down. Like, for fun. And this is what we got&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theomakesthree.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/ice-skating-laughs.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/theomakesthree.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/ice-skating-laughs-223x300.jpg\" alt=\"ice skating laughs\" width=\"223\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1605\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theomakesthree.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/ice-skating-laughs-223x300.jpg 223w, https:\/\/theomakesthree.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/ice-skating-laughs-762x1024.jpg 762w, https:\/\/theomakesthree.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/ice-skating-laughs.jpg 1512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 223px) 100vw, 223px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Blurry giggles!<\/p>\n<p>Jay skated him around, dragging him sort of behind, and Theo got a couple &#8220;uppies&#8221; while Daddy skated fast(ish) around the rink. Of course the trip wouldn&#8217;t be complete without some other obsession (a helicopter flying &#8217;round and &#8217;round) that Theo wanted in the arcade but then was closed, much to his dismay. We shared french fries and pizza and it was a really nice Sunday family outing!
